Position
We are hiring three (3) full-time Accessioners to support our new Austin, TX laboratory location. This is a true entry-level position designed for individuals who are pursuing or have recently completed a degree in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related life science field.
This role is also a great opportunity for newly certified phlebotomists, medical assistants (MAs), EMTs, or individuals seeking to transition into a clinical laboratory setting.
Whether you’re looking to gain hands-on laboratory experience, build a foundation in specimen processing, or prepare for future roles in molecular diagnostics, this position offers structured training and exposure to real-world clinical workflows.
Candidates with relevant coursework, certifications, or prior healthcare experience will be given priority, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
Three (3) full-time openings available
- Two positions: Tuesday – Saturday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- One position: Tuesday – Saturday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Accurately enter patient and specimen data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Professionally handle incoming phone calls related to specimen processing
- Verify, label, and ensure proper handling and storage of biological specimens
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance guidelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
- Work collaboratively with laboratory personnel to ensure efficient workflows
- Meet productivity goals and turnaround time expectations
- Identify and resolve basic specimen discrepancies to prevent processing errors
- Assist with sample tracking and maintain accurate chain-of-custody documentation
- Monitor and report specimen issues such as mislabeling, leaks, or insufficient volume
- Support lab compliance efforts by following HIPAA, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and package samples for further laboratory testing as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support lab operations
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency with computers, including data entry systems and spreadsheets
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Effective time management and multitasking skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable work ethic
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
- Must be based near Austin, TX or able to reliably commute
- Willingness to work the assigned shift, including weekends if applicable
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or a degree in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related life science
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory, molecular lab, or healthcare environment
- Familiarity with specimen handling, accessioning, or chain-of-custody processes
- Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Recent certification or training as a phlebotomist, MA, or EMT
- Experience handling protected health information (PHI)
- Prior specimen processing or laboratory experience
All positions require time zone awareness, as we are a multi-state organization with teams and partners across different U.S. time zones. Clear communication and timely coordination are essential.
Schedules are fixed once assigned.
Job Type
Full-Time | W2 Team Member (30+ hours per week)
Pay Range
$17.25 – $20.00 per hour
Pay is based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
