Medical Specimen Courier (Air Travel) – Full-Time (Denver, CO)
Location: Based in Denver, CO – Round Trip to Salt Lake City, UT
Schedule: Tuesday to Friday, early morning departures, same-day return
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Anticipated Start Date: May 12, 2025
Status: Full-Time, W2
Position Summary
We are hiring a dependable and detail-oriented full-time Medical Specimen Courier to support our growing operations between Denver, CO, and Salt Lake City, UT. This role involves daily air travel, ensuring time-sensitive medical specimens are securely transported and delivered on schedule. Couriers must be punctual, self-directed, and comfortable flying regularly, including some holidays.
Responsibilities
- Pick up medical specimens in Denver prior to scheduled flight departure
- Package, secure, and transport specimens in compliance with all company and regulatory protocols (including HIPAA and DOT)
- Board the earliest available commercial flight to Salt Lake City (typically 5:00–7:00 AM departure)
- Ensure specimen integrity is maintained throughout travel
- Deliver specimens immediately upon arrival in Salt Lake City
- Complete return flight to Denver the same day and report status to dispatch
- Maintain a chain of custody and accurate documentation for each delivery
- Track transport times and note any exceptions or delays
- Communicate regularly with dispatch, logistics, and lab staff to ensure smooth coordination
- Conduct daily quality checks of supplies and transport materials (e.g., coolers, ice packs, seals)
- Report any transport-related incidents or concerns immediately
- Comply with all airport, airline, and TSA regulations
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with airline personnel or healthcare staff
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Must reside in or near Denver, CO
- Must have a valid government-issued ID suitable for air travel (TSA compliant)
- Must be comfortable flying four times per week and working early mornings and holidays as needed
- Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, courier services, or medical specimen transport (preferred)
- Understanding of HIPAA, chain-of-custody procedures, and basic biohazard safety protocols
- Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Exceptional punctuality and time management
- Attention to detail when handling sensitive materials
- Able to lift and carry up to 40/50lbs lbs regularly
- Proficiency with GPS, flight apps, and mobile communication tools
- Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
- Reliable and adaptable in changing airport or flight conditions
