Accessioner – Full-Time, Overnight (Aurora, CO)
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 10:00 PM to 8:30 AM (4x10s)
Pay Range: $19.50 – $22.50/hour
Shift Differential: 8% added for hours worked between 8:00 PM and 4:00 AM
Anticipated Start Date: May 5, 2025
Training: Onsite in Salt Lake City, UT from May 5–9 (travel and accommodations arranged and covered)
Position Summary
We are hiring two full-time Accessioners to join our growing laboratory team in Aurora, CO. This is a true entry-level opportunity ideal for recent graduates or those with backgrounds in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or other life sciences—as well as newly certified phlebotomists, MAs, EMTs, or those with healthcare experience.
Candidates with relevant education, certifications, or prior lab experience will be prioritized, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
Note: This is our first Accessioning position in the Denver area. While the primary responsibilities will focus on specimen processing, the role will initially require flexibility and a proactive approach. During downtime or low specimen volume, the Accessioner will be expected to assist with other departmental needs to support overall lab operations until Accessioning becomes a full-time workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately enter patient and specimen data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Verify, label, and handle biological specimens following standard procedures
- Ensure proper storage, tracking, and chain-of-custody documentation
- Identify and resolve basic specimen discrepancies to prevent errors
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, safety, and quality control protocols
- Support the lab team with phone calls, sample preparation, and operational needs
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume lab environment
- Meet productivity and turnaround time goals
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow SOPs
- Perform additional duties as needed to support lab and team operations
Qualifications
- Coursework or degree in molecular biology, chemistry, or life sciences preferred
- Medical/laboratory experience is a plus but not required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently overnight
- Comfortable handling patient specimens and learning new software systems
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure
Work Location
Aurora, CO (Onsite)
Training held in Draper, UT from May 5–9. Travel will be arranged and paid for.
Compensation & Benefits
- $19.50 – $22.50/hour, depending on experience
