Position

Rocky Mountain Laboratories is seeking two 1099 contractors for emergency courier coverage in the Boise/Treasure Valley area. These contractors will provide essential specimen retrieval, supply delivery, and transport of medical-related materials to internal and external customers. Paid training will be provided. Contractors will have access to a company vehicle during their shift.
Schedule: Guaranteed at least one shift every week, approx 4-5 hours, availability Monday through Saturday as needed. Shifts start between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM and end around either 9PM or  AM, depending on the assigned route.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate retrieval and delivery of medical specimens to designated destinations, adhering to established protocols.
  • Conduct supply drops as needed to clients or internal locations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the company vehicle, including regular inspections and reporting any maintenance issues.
  • Adhere to all relevant safety regulations and guidelines while operating the vehicle and handling medical specimens.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and special instructions.
  • Handle specimens with care and attention to detail, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and storage during transport.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing any concerns or inquiries from clients or recipients during pickups and deliveries.
  • Assist with loading and unloading specimens, equipment, and supplies as needed, following proper lifting and handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all pickups, deliveries, and related activities using company-provided software or paperwork.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot issues or challenges encountered during daily operations, contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Personal liability auto insurance.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Active smartphone (Android or iPhone) with an adequate data plan.
  • Flexibility to cover emergency routes.
  • Previous medical courier experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of related driving experience in previous roles.
  • Comfortable navigating routing software and GPS.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle for long periods.

License/Certification

  • Valid Driver's License (Required)

Pay: $22.00 per hour

W-2 couriers earn $18/hour ($19.29 for Denver Only) and receive the following additional benefits:

8% shift differential for hours worked between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
Discretionary monthly bonus incentive of up to 10% of pay, based on performance and merit
Holiday pay and accrued PTO

Note: 1099 couriers are paid a flat $22/hour due to the inconsistent nature of the schedule and are not eligible for shift differentials, bonuses, holiday pay, or PTO.*
